On this Hampi Village Life Tour, we will embark on a journey of exploring & experiencing the local way of life in rural communities around the UNESCO world heritage site. There are around 29 village settlements within the protected core zone and people living in these communities are an essential part of the cultural heritage of Hampi. The traditions, festivals, social life of people here is deeply intertwined with their shared heritage and the landscape. This is why Hampi is often referred to as a living heritage site. On this tour we will immerse ourselves in lives of people from these communities, understand how they contribute to the richness of the cultural heritage of this site. 

This tour is all about immersing yourself into the local culture and learning about life in villages of India. We promise to make this fun, engaging and educational experience for you! 

  • Tour conducted by a local from the village community
  • Meet a farmer & ride on his bullock cart with him as we engage in conversations
  • Visit the community temple of goddess Durga and participate in the Pooja ceremony 
  • Meet women artisans and learn how to create handicraft from locally available materials.
  • Visit a local family and enter their kitchen to help with the cooking. Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal.
  • Walk through a charming village and get glimpse into daily lives of locals
  • Learn about local traditions and listen to local folklore stories

09:30 AM – Arrive at Anegundi Village and meet your local host

09:30 AM to 12:30 AM – Explore the village, meet different people from the community including farmers, holymen & craftswomen. Visit important places of significance to the local people heritage and their culture today. Engage with the people as you learn about them.  

12:30 PM to 01:30 PM – Visit the house of village family that will be hosting us for lunch.  Enjoy a sumptuous meal prepared freshly with locally sourced organic produce. 

01:30 PM – End of Tour

  • Local Transportation – A Chauffeur driven air conditioned car or vehicle depending on the option chosen by you.

    By default we haven’t included transportation in this tour. This is because we want to give travellers the flexibility to use their own transportation. For those of you who want us to arrange transportation you can choose one of the following during your booking process and we will send your a quote for local transportation as well. 

    • A/C Sedan Car with capacity for 3 persons (Plus driver & Guide)
    • A/C SUV Car with capacity of 5 persons (plus driver & Guide) 
    • A/C Traveller with capacity for 9 persons (plus driver & Guide) 


  • We do not provide bottled drinking water to avoid single-use plastics on our tours. Please carry a water bottle or buy one on the way.


  • Wear comfortable cotton clothes. Wear clothing that would cover your chest and shoulders. Wear bottoms that would cover up to your knees.
  • A cap or an umbrella to keep the sun out.
  • Sunglasses

Frequently asked Questions

Our tour lead will coordinate with you and your driver the day before the tour by phone and email. In case you are hiring an auto rickshaw (tuk-tuk), you can have the driver talk to our tour leader (we will send his/her number to you) over phone and they’ll co-ordinate the location.
